Anichkov Palace was constructed in the 1700s and is one of the oldest buildings on Nevsky Prospekt. In the 1800s the palace was owned by the royal family. Today it is known as the Youth Activity Palace as it houses a number of childrens' clubs and is used for the main New Year feast 'Yolka'.
